A note from Arella...

The summer is nearly over and the days are getting shorter.  A lot of us are getting back into more of a routine.  This is the perfect time to carve out some space in our lives for reflection and to take action for what we want to create in our lives for the future. Practicing yoga  helps me to quiet my mind so that I'm able to hear that inner voice and then move in a direction that will bring me closer to my deepest desires.  Having a focused practice also enables me to direct my energy outward once I'm off my mat to be of service to others who are in need and to be more present in other people's lives.  So what is it that you want to create for yourself in your own life?  How can you give to others so that you're expanding your sense of self and living in a way where you are really embracing the concept that "we are all one?"  A couple of questions worth pondering.  I know I'll be thinking about them.

Tips for healthy living:

Take hot baths.  According to the system of Ayurveda, taking a  hot bath is one of the most relaxing things we can do to calm our nervous system.  I love taking baths and often put lavender oil in my bath water, light a couple of candles, close my eyes, and simply let go.  Also, going to one of Northern California's many natural hot springs is a magical way to experience the healing and renewing effects of water.

Let thy food be thy medicine.  I  recently watched the movie, "Forks over Knives" which was  a very powerful documentary about how our food choices directly affect our health.  I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is interested in learning how to eat healthy along with  understanding how to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, weight gain, and other ailments.   You can watch the movie instantly on Netflix.

Be grateful for all that you have in your life and stop kvetching Our attitude, without question, affects our mind state, which affects our health.  When we've gotten into a complaining mode, my husband Jeffrey and I will make a pact to not complain about anything to each other and if we do, we call each other on it.  It's amazing how that shifts  our attention to everything that we have in our lives that is good and how blessed we are.  It's worth giving it a try. :-)

To your radiant health!

Namaste,

Arella
